Twigga means giraffe, and other important things...

Hello dear friends and family,

After an uncomfortable 16 hour flight, I have successfully arrived in the beautiful city of Nairobi! I have already accomplished one of my first goals -- to eat a perfectly delicious avacado! My YAV friends and I have spent most of the day exploring Westlands, and I have already fallen in love with this place. The weather is perfect, and the stars are beautiful.

My swahili is truly lacking, but today I learned some important/necessary words: asanti sana (thank you, very much!), polo (or pole, not sure...pronounced polay) which means sorry, mambo (which is the new jambo (hell0)), and twigga which means giraffe!

I am excited to continue exploring the city, and to finally get to Gatundu (at the end of September). Please keep all of us in your prayers, and thank you for all of your emails and support! More to come, friends, and God bless!

Mambo, and God bless you, Rachel, as you begin your wonderful, and challenging, journey serving God and neighbor this year in Kenya.

The folks at Starmount are praying for you.
